Arike Ogunbowale
Arike ogunbowale (born April 2, 1985) is an American professional basketball player. She is part of the Dallas Wings and the Women's National Basketball Association. She was a player for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in college before she was drafted as the fifth pick overall by the Wings in the 2019 WNBA draft. Arike Ogunbowale was born Milwaukee Wisconsin on March 2 1997, was the daughter of Yolanda Ogunbowale and Gregory Ogunbowale. Mario Ogunbowale (26 years old) and Dare Ogunbowale (19 years) are her older brothers. As the youngest sister, she got the attention of her parents. Gregory, her father, was involved in the Nigerian Army quite a while. Ogunbowale comes from a family who has connections to the sports world. Her mother Yolanda was a softball coach at DePaul while her brother Dare was an athlete in football. Her aunt played tennis at UAPB. And her cousin Endia plays volleyball too on the field at Tennessee State. Ogunbowale was named to the honor roll of her school for the past three years. In addition, she has won numerous awards and received fame and recognition from her school days. Arike graduated from Divine Savior Holy Angels High School in her hometown. While studying at the school, she played three years of varsity football. Ogunbowale's outstanding skills led to the school claiming stunning wins multiple times. With 73 high-school starts throughout her playing career, she has 1,477 points with 739 rebound. Ogunbowale managed to take home gold in 2013 the FIBA Americas U16 Championships as well as 2014 FIBA U17 World Championships. In July 2014 she was picked to join the USA Youth Olympic Women's Basketball Team. Ogunbowale was also named to the ACC All-Freshman Team after her debut collegiate season. Kobe Bryant congratulated her after shooting a number of big shots in the NCCA Tournament. Ogunbowale may be new to basketball but she has already made herself known.
